Meet the Maker: Little Sisters Studio

Today, we’re looking forward to introducing you to the maker behind the Little Sisters Studio brand and sharing some of the upbeat, cheerful designs she creates. We’re obsessed with her Bluebonnet stamp magnet, Texas Wildflower print, and Love postcard, and we think this pin is “turtle-y” awesome! With stickers, pins, notecards, prints, buttons, bookmarks, and more, there’s a Little Sisters Studio product for every area of your life! We can’t wait to share Ashley’s brand and story with you today.

Hi Ashley! Thanks for sharing your story with us today! Can you please tell us a little about yourself?

I was born and raised in Irving, Tx but now reside in Fort Worth with my husband and 3 little girls. I went to college in Dallas and actually worked at the Book Doctor in Bishop Arts while I was going to school. To this day it’s still my all-time favorite job, I loved making and repairing books. I’m sad it’s no longer there, but I’m super excited to be back to Bishop Arts at MMC.

It must have been so interesting learning how to bring books back to life! What are you most excited about for the future?

Right now I’m working full-time as an art director and Little Sisters Studio is my side-hustle, I’m really looking forward to watching it grow and becoming my full-time job.

We’re rooting for you and Little Sisters Studio! Tell us about your business! What do you make and how long have you been doing it?

My business is Little Sisters Studio and I chose that name because I’m a little sister. I’m the youngest of 3 and my older sister loved art and drawing and taught me a few things along the way. I’ve always loved to draw and I went to school for graphic design. My art is usually cute and colorful. I’ve been creating art and design for over a decade, but I’ve really only started creating products this past year.

What a sweet way to honor the family ties that led you to where you are today! What advice would you give a young artist?

The most important thing for young artists to know is not to compare themselves to other artists. I wish I had been given that advice when I was younger. Things are even tougher on young people now with social media. When I was in college I only had my peers to compare my art with, now you can see what the whole world is working on. It can be overwhelming, but it’s important to know that there is room for everyone!

That’s really great advice! Why did you get involved with MMC?

I reached out to MMC because I was a huge fan! I had bought a few things out shopping and had been following along on Instagram. I love that there is a place for creative Texas women.

We’re so glad you reached out and joined our community! If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

If I could travel anywhere in the world it would be Nova Scotia. I’ve always wanted to see the Northern Lights and it just looks like a beautiful place to see.

We hope you make it there and get to see the Northern Lights someday soon! Thanks for sharing Little Sisters Studio with us today! We’re so glad you’re a part of the Mosaic Makers Collective.
