If you keep a crystal or two nearby to clear negative energy and promote balance, we’re excited to introduce you to a maker who’s adding a fashionable element to your favorite semi-precious stones. Every piece of Yambala Designs jewelry is handmade by Laudia, then purified and cleansed with sage before being sold. Bring good luck with jade, promote courage and wisdom with pink jasper, and clear negative energies with black onyx. We can’t wait to share her story and products with you today!
Hi Laudia! Thanks so much for sharing your story with us today! Can you please tell us a little about yourself?
I was born and raised in the Congo. I speak three languages, English, French and Lingala. My passions are TV & Film, Fashion and Spirituality. I enjoy travelling, spending time in nature and making my friends laugh. I currently live in Houston, Texas.
The ability to make friends laugh is a great quality to have! This past year has been a tough one. Can you share something good that has come out of this time?
The good thing that came out of this past year is that I moved to Houston, Texas!
Texas has been so good to me. I really love it and I’m very happy here.
Welcome to Texas! We’re so glad you’re here. Tell us about your business-- What do you make and how long have you been doing it?
My business is called Yambala Designs. Yambala is my last name. I hand wrap jewelry made with natural semi-precious stones. My goal is to provide beautiful jewelry so people can look good, feel good and enjoy the healing benefits each stone provides. I started making jewelry in 2010. It was my friends and family who encouraged me to sell my craft. Jewelry was always a hobby, until I moved to New York City in 2015 and launched my business.
What a fashionable way to help people keep the natural healing benefits of stones close! What is the most memorable response you’ve had to your work?
I had a returning customer who told me that her amethyst ring brought her a lot of good luck and when she took it off for a few days, she realized that her energy was off. So now she never takes her amethyst ring off!
We love anything that brings good luck! We’d never take the ring off either! What are three words that best describe your work?
Beautiful, Unique, Healing
That’s a lovely description. What’s the most recent show you binge-watched?
The most recent show I binged watched was The Handmaid’s Tale. The show is absolutely bananas! It keeps me at the edge of my seat! The major themes are very powerful and the characters are incredible.
I’ve heard so many good things about that show! Thanks so much for telling us about Yambala Designs. We’re so glad to have you as a maker at Mosaic Makers Collective!
